FRESNO, Calif. – Santa Clara women's golf scored its lowest round of the spring season with a 298 in Tuesday's final round, moving up two spots on the leaderboard for a seventh place finish with a 911 total at the Fresno State Classic.
The Broncos improved their score in each of the three rounds, but failed to make up enough ground for a higher finish. They missed out on a top-five placement by 13 strokes and ended up 20 shots behind Nevada, which scored a tournament-best 290 on Tuesday to finish two shots ahead of Cal Poly with an 891 total.
Two Broncos placed in the top-10 with senior Annie Freman ending in a tie for 7th with a 5-over 221 total. She scored a final round 2-over 74 to earn her 27th career top-10.
Junior Kristin Le climbed 10 spots on the individual leaderboard by carding the lowest round of any Bronco on Tuesday. Le had a 1-over 73 and moved into a tie for ninth-place at 7-over 223 for her 17th career top-10 finish.
Cal State Fullerton's Martina Edberg held on to her second round lead to claim individual medalist honors. Her 4-under 212 was one shot better than UC Riverside's Jakeishya Le.
The Broncos got some help from the rest of the lineup in the final round to score below 300 for the first time in three spring events.
Kyleigh Moreno had a six-shot improvement from her second round score, carding a final round 3-over 75 to place in a tie for 50th with her 236 total. Isabella Salant also bettered her second round by six shots, firing a final round 4-over 76 to end in 58th place with a 22-over 238.
Freshman Chloe Wong scored a final round 5-over 77 to finish tied for 37th with a 16-over 232.
Competing as an individual in her first event of the spring, freshman Isabella Seeburger placed in a tie for 55th-place at 21-over 237.
The Broncos will take a few weeks off from competition before heading to Maui to compete in the Anuenue Spring Break Classic beginning on Mar. 27.
