MORAGA, Calif.- The Bronco women's tennis team earned both a win and a loss during the WCC-filled weekend. The Broncos defeated Gonzaga 6-1 yesterday at Degheri Center, and fell to Saint Mary's, 7-0, this afternoon at the Korth Tennis Complex. The Broncos are 8-9 for the season and 2-2 in the WCC.

Yesterday's match against Gonzaga was an outstanding effort from the Broncos, who swept all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Senior Stephanie Galainena suffered the only loss for the Broncos, falling Gonzaga's Rika Mehndiratta 6-2, 6-2.

"It was great to get another conference win," said Bronco head coach Ben Cabell. "Our win should definitely help us out with seeding and it was also great to defeat a team that had beaten us last year. This year's win was a really big turnaround from last year's meeting and that's a great feeling for us."

In today's 7-0 loss against Saint Mary's, the Broncos struggled to find their rhythm against the Gaels. Galainena and sophomore Ashley Pane defeated Saint Mary's Alex Poorta and Claire Soper 8-5 for the only Bronco win for the day.

"It was a tough loss today; Saint Mary's has a very good team," said Cabell. "We had to play without one of our best singles players so that had an impact. Ashley really pulled out a great win at the No. 1 doubles position with Stephanie and that definitely gives us a lot of confidence for our last match of the year next weekend."

The Broncos will celebrate Senior Day during their last match of the season before the WCC Tournament on April 10th at 1:00 p.m. at Degheri Center.
