SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Continuing its rise as one of the preeminent programs in the country, the Santa Clara men's tennis team captured the No. 11 ranked recruiting class for 2016. This is the highest recruiting class ranking for Santa Clara in program history.
"I'm excited about the talent that we have coming into our program," said Head Coach Derek Mills. "The future is very bright for Santa Clara men's tennis. We look forward to climbing the ladder and establishing ourselves as one of the best programs in the country."
This year's Santa Clara recruiting class is one of the highest ranked classes among programs not belonging to the Power 5 conferences of the Pac-12, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC and SEC.
The Blue Devils from Duke University captured the No. 1 recruiting class ranking after locking up 17 of the 25 first-place votes. For the ninth year in a row, Pac-12 and local power Stanford University claimed a spot in the top 25. Capturing six first-place ballots helped the Cardinal finish at No. 2 in this year's list. Rounding out the top 3 recruiting classes was the University of Georgia from the SEC, the first of four teams from that conference to receive a top 25 ranking.
