Men’s Tennis Picked Third in WCC Preseason Poll

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - On the verge of West Coast Conference action, the Santa Clara men's tennis team has been picked to finish in third place in the highly-competitive conference. The preseason poll announcement released today reflects the votes cast by all 10 head coaches in the conference.

On an individual level, junior Ashot Khacharyan, already boasting a 10-2 record on the year, was selected as an All-WCC Preseason team member. Khacharyan, off to a blistering start in 2015, is 3-0 in dual match play and has spent time in the national rankings for singles competitors.

The University of San Diego, last season's WCC Champions, was picked to finish atop the conference. Last year's runner up, Pepperdine University, was picked to finish in second place, followed by Santa Clara in the third place spot.

Last season, the Broncos were tied for fourth place with San Francisco in the preseason poll. After posting a record of 15-6 regular season play, the Broncos reached the semi-finals of last year's WCC Championships.

The Broncos will kick off the WCC schedule when they host the University of San Francisco on March 4 at 3 p.m.
