Nov. 13, 2004

STOCKTON, Calif. - The 19th-ranked Santa Clara men's water polo team fell to Pacific, 10-7 in its regular season finale in Stockton on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncos fall to 9-20 on the year.

The Broncos jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the first half of play. However, the Tigers came out strong in the second half, taking the lead and eventually, the win.

"Today was a tale of two halves," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "We started off very strong in the first half, but didn't play our best in the second half. It was just a missed opportunity for us. Hopefully, we can take advantage of those situations in the playoffs."

Kevin Starry scored two goals to lead the Bronco offense. Kenny Flanagan-De La Hoz, Austin Brizgys, Grant Allison, Danny Soares and Mark Perlite each tallied a goal for SCU. Allison earned three ejections, while Chris Parolin and Flanagan-De la Hoz forced two kick-outs.

Defensively, senior goalkeeper Peter Moore was strong in the cage, posting nine saves and a steal. Flanagan-De la Hoz also had a big defensive performance with four steals in the contest.

The Broncos will head to Davis, Calif. this weekend for the Western Water Polo Association Championships. Action will begin on Thursday at Schaal Aquatics Center.
