Women's Tennis Sweeps Dominican

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis took care of business in a 7-0 victory over Dominican Saturday afternoon.

The Broncos (1-1) started out strong, picking up the doubles point by sweeping the Penguins (1-2) on all three courts. Santa Clara took the doubles by scores of 6-1 on court one, 6-0 on court two, and 6-1 on court three.  The freshmen duo of Katherine Petty and Finley Kalinic clinched the doubles point on court one over Amber Del Rosario and Zoe Coggins.  

Giulia Hayer got the Broncos (1-1) off to a good start on court four in singles, picking up a 6-0, 6-0 victory over the Penguins' Haley Garcia.

The match clincher came on court five where Lindsey Pesqueira topped Zoe Coggins 6-2, 6-0.

The biggest battle of the day came on court one where JennaMarie Gordon outlasted Amber Del Rosario 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), who previously competed at the University of San Francisco.  

On courts two through five, Santa Clara lost a total of seven games.
