Women’s Tennis to Play No. 5 Pepperdine and CSUN on the Road

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis opens West Coast Conference play at No. 5 Pepperdine on Friday before facing CSUN in a nonconference tilt on Saturday.  First serve for Friday is at 1:30 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Broncos (2-5) dropped a tight contest against UC Davis 4-3 on Tuesday in a tune up to Friday's WCC opener.  Finley Kalinic, Jamie Schroer and Katherine Petty each picked up singles wins.  Kalinic moved up the lineup to the No. 2 spot and is now 6-1 on the season.  Giulia Hayer has a team-best 5-2 doubles record including 4-1 while paired with JennaMarie Gordon on court two.  

Pepperdine (9-2) was the consensus pick to win the WCC in the preseason coaches' poll and has won six-straight contests.  They are undefeated at home this season winning all seven matches.

CSUN (1-2) begins the week with a 1-2 record before facing Sacramento State on Wednesday.  Magdalena Hedrzak tops the team with three singles wins with one victory each on courts four, five and six.
