SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Anastasia Abramyan won in straight sets on court one to clinch the match to help BYU defeat Santa Clara women's tennis 5-2 on Friday at the Degheri Tennis Center.

BYU (15-7, 4-2) raced ahead to a 3-0 lead winning the doubles point and the first two singles matches by Kara Lin and Leah Heimuli before Jamie Schroer got the Broncos on the board with her victory.  Schroer took down Helen Jiao 6-2, 6-1 on court three.

Abramyan defeated JennaMarie Gordon 6-4, 6-3 atop the lineup for the fourth point for BYU (15-7, 4-2).

Katherine Petty picked up the other point for Santa Clara with her three-set win over Emilee Astle 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Santa Clara hosts San Diego on Saturday at 11 a.m.  The Broncos lone senior, Nadine Del Carmen, will be recognized prior to the match.
