Women’s Water Polo Plays a Pair at Home Saturday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara women's water polo team will finally get a chance to play in front of its home crowd.

After playing their first 12 games of the season on the road or at neutral sites, the Broncos will play twice in Sullivan Aquatic Center Saturday.

Santa Clara (4-8) faces the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters at 10 a.m. before meeting the No. 19 Hartwick Hawks at 4 p.m. The Otters (4-14) and Hawks (11-5) will play at 1 p.m. in a neutral site matchup.

The Broncos down the Otters, 16-9, in their season opener (Jan. 30). Freshman Hannah Buck scored a team-high four goals in her collegiate debut.

Santa Clara has not faced Hartwick since the 2013 season when the Hawks prevailed 11-4 in the UC San Diego Triton Invitational (Feb. 10).

Senior Elle Surber has led the offensive attack for the Broncos with team highs in goals (22) and assists (14). She is also tied for the team lead in both steals (11) and kickouts drawn (24).

Senior Elizabeth Anderson is second in goals (16) and is tied with Surber for the lead in kickouts drawn. Anderson also had six of the team's eight drawn 5-meter attempts.

Senior Sydni Estrella and junior Francesca Puccinelli have split time in net, with each making six starts. Puccinelli has 66 blocks and Estrella 49.
