Wilson Wins Hornet Invitational!

Sept. 12, 2009

Santa Clara cross country senior Stephanie Wilson, a graduate of Archbishop Mitty in San Jose, won the Hornet Invitational today in Sacramento. Calif. Both Bronco teams finished fourth and have next weekend off before competing at the Stanford Invitational on Sept. 26.

Wilson ran a 17:23 to win her first career college cross country meet. Wilson was an All-WCC performer last year.

"Stephanie looked really good against a really tough field," said head coach Tom Service. "She is setting herself up to have a really good season."

"Both Felipe and I are very pleased with both teams performances early in the season," said Service. "We both ran really beefy workouts this week and so we are encouraged by our performance after a tough week of training. We will take next weekend off before gearing up for the Stanford Invitational in two weeks."

On the men's side, Robbie Reid opened his 2009 campaign on a high note, finishing 10th at 20:14. Reid was also an All-WCC performer last year.

"Erin was injured as lot last year, but has been improving rapidly this fall," said Service."
