SANTA CLARA, Calif.-The No. 49 Santa Clara University men's tennis program continues its first road swing, playing the first half of a four-match tour outside of California. This weekend the Broncos will travel to Texas to play two matches in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Santa Clara will take the court on Fri., Feb. 10 at Southern Methodist University before battling Texas Christian on Sun., Feb. 12.

The Broncos
Santa Clara continues play away from Degheri Tennis Center with two more matches. Santa Clara (3-2) continues to battle against some of the NCAA's best programs, playing four of its last seven matches against ranked squads, including this weekend. 

Junior Tom Pham is heating up for Santa Clara. Pham has yet to drop a singles match this spring, picking up five-straight victories. 

SMU
Southern Methodist (3-1) has won three-straight matches after dropping its opener to current No. 14Texas (tied with Missippi State for the No. 14 spot). During their current winning streak, the Mustangs have defeated Texas-Pan American, Florida Gulf Coast and Lamar. The Mustangs have five international players on their 13-man roster. Mischa Nowicki leads SMU with 15 singles victories. Artem Baradach is the team's most productive in the No. 1 singles spot. Baradach has played 15 matches as the Mustang's No. 1 singles player, comprising a record of 10-5 (11-5 overall). Tobias Flood and Joseph Hattrup have been the most effective doubles tandem for SMU, teaming up for a 14-9 record.

TCU

The Horned Frogs started the year with a 4-2 win over then-No. 68 Texas A&M-Corpus Cristi before hitting a very difficult portion of their schedule. No. 44 TCU (2-3) lost three straight to No. 4 Georgia, No. 38 Nebraska and No. 14 Mississippi State. The Horned Frogs got back into the win column with a 4-3 victory over then- No. 47 Alabama. Before TCU faces off with the Broncos, they will take on Texas Tech at home. The Horned Frogs have a plethora of young players including five freshman. TCU boasts a pair of brothers, Nick and Paul Chappell. Nick Chappell is a freshman and his brother Paul is a senior. Nick Chappell leads the team with nine victories.

All-Time Highs

Santa Clara has already been setting all-time marks this season. The Broncos began the season at a school-best No. 50 in the ITA rankings, the highest ever to begin the season … the doubles tandem of Vinel/Dandan opened the fall with the best-ever doubles ranking in school history as the nation's No. 37 tandem.  

Global Perspectives

The Broncos tennis program has players and coaches from seven countries, including players from five countries and two international coaches. The SCU team boasts players from five different countries including the U.S., France, Japan, Russia and the Philippines.  The coaching staff is also a mix of internationals including first-year assistant coach, Jose Hilla who is from Oviedo, Spain and third-year assistant Jakub Cech is from Prague, Czech Republic.
