Three Broncos Named Academic All-League

Feb. 26, 2003

SAN BRUNO, CALIF. - Santa Clara University men and women's basketball players Tammy Annas, Kendra Rhea and Ethan Rohde were named to the West Coast Conference Winter All-Academic Team today, the league announced.

The 2003 WCC Winter All-Academic teams honor some of the league's finest examples of the consummate scholar-athlete. At the completion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each of the participating sponsored sports. To be considered, a student-athlete must earn at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials, and have sophomore athletic and academic standing.

Rohde, a sophomore from Seattle, Wash. has started 23 of Santa Clara's 24 games this season and is fourth among active players in scoring with an average of 8.9 points per game. He is one of the league's top three-point threats, making 54-of-130 attempts from behind the arc for a .415 percentage. A walk-on, Rohde scored a career-high 22 points earlier this season against Princeton and set a career mark with 10 rebounds in the win over Pepperdine two weeks ago.

Annas, a senior forward from Enumclaw, Wash., is second on the Bronco women's basketball team in scoring with an average of 11.1 points per game. She is also second on the team in rebounding with an average of 6.1 per game and has a team-high 61 steals. She was named honorable mention all-WCC last season.

Rhea, a senior forward from Lakeside, Calif. is the team's rebounding leader, averaging 7.7 boards per game. She averages 8.0 points per game and is shooting a team-high .539 from the field. She was named to the WCC All-Academic team as a junior and was selected to last season's WCC All-Tournament Team.
