Santa Clara University junior Quinn Thomas was named a first team All-West Coast Conference honoree, the league announced today. Senior forward Jennie Rondel earned honorable mention honors, while newcomers Ashley Graham and Tori Markey earned spots on the All-Freshmen team.

Thomas, from Kent, Wash., is one of the Bronco program's most successful perimeter shooters, and is only two three-point field goals away from setting a new career mark in three-pointers made. Currently at 156 made threes, Thomas' next score from long range will tie Julie Lienert's mark set from 1988-91. Thomas leads the league in three-point field goals made per game, averaging 2.33, and she has a 34.7 percentage from long range, ranked eighth in the conference. She is second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.5 points per game. Highlights from this season include six threes in the season opener against UW-Green Bay, the game-winning three on her 21st birthday at San Diego State and a career-high 24 points against Saint Mary's.

Rondel is from Redmond, Wash., and like her teammate, averages 10.5 points per game, while reaching double figures in 16 contests. She had a career night at Saint Mary's, netting 20 points, and became only the sixth player in SCU history to not miss an attempt, when she went 7-7 at Gonzaga and finished with 18 points in just 17 minutes of action. She earned her first career double-double last week, recording 19 points and 11 rebounds on Senior Night against Portland.

Graham is a true freshman and is also from Redmond. She has started 25 games at the point, and averages 8.5 points per game. In league statistics, Graham is second in three-point percentage (.430), third in three-point field goals made (1.72) and fourth in assists (3.84). Graham's career highs are 21 points (at LMU) and 12 assists (at Portland).

Markey is a redshirt freshman from nearby Orinda who averages 6.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest. Her career highs have been against Loyola Marymount, 18 points vs. the Lions at home, and 11 rebounds on the road.

LMU was honored with the Player of the Year award to Kate Murray and Coach of the Year award to Julie Wilhoit. San Francisco's Toni Russell was named Defensive Player of the Year and Portland's Ashlee Orndorff received the Newcomer of the Year honor.

Santa Clara (8-19, 4-10), is the host of the 2004 West Coast Conference Championship this week. The Broncos will be the tournament's sixth seed and will play San Francisco on Thursday at 2 p.m.

"It's a new season and anybody can beat anybody at any given time," head coach Michelle Bento-Jackson said. "It's nice to be home and we're looking forward to hosting a great tournament."
