SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's basketball team held UC Davis to 10 second-half points in a 90-42 victory this evening at the Leavey Center. Reserves Michelle Cozad and Tracey Walker combined for 29 points as the Broncos shot 54.3 percent to improve to 3-3 on the season. The 48-point win is the seventh largest margin of victory in program history, and second largest when considering only home contests.

Aggie Jessica Campbell scored all 12 of her points in the first half to lead her squad, and UC Davis falls to 2-4 on the season. Ellen Porshneva also finished with 12 points, and Lara Gray posted a game-high eight rebounds for the Aggies.

Cozad led all scorers with 15 points and Walker added 14 as the Bronco bench outscored the starting lineup 56-34. Tori Markey posted seven points, six rebounds and three assists in 11 minutes of action in another notable performance. Chandice Cronk, Yasemin Kimyacioglu and Kayla Huss added nine points apiece in the balanced SCU attack. Kasey Monteith and Cronk nabbed seven rebounds each to lead the squad.

As a team, the Broncos bettered 54 percent from the field, and added a .478 clip from three-point range, posting 11 treys. The squad also posted season bests in two categories, dishing out 20 assists and nabbing 10 steals.

Santa Clara led the entire contest, and pushed open its first double-digit lead midway through the first half, when a Huss three made it 23-12 just under the 12 minute mark. UC Davis reduced that lead to three just three minutes later, as Campbell scored eight points to spark a 12-2 run. Santa Clara kept making shots and pushed the lead back to double digits in the final three minutes. A Markey jumper with 11 seconds remaining sent the teams into the locker room with SCU holding a 47-32 advantage.

The Aggies only made four baskets in 30 attempts after intermission, including 0-9 from long range as the Broncos pulled ahead. A Cronk jumper made it 56-36 with 14:26 remaining. UC Davis went almost six minutes without a point, before Proshneva's score ended the drought. The Broncos made it a 40-point lead on a basket by Huss with seven minutes remaining.

Santa Clara remains at home and will host 18th-ranked Minnesota on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Leavey Center. The Golden Gophers are 6-1 on the season, and were a 2004 Final Four participant.
