April 28, 2006

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University women's basketball head coach Michelle Bento-Jackson has added a third member to her recruiting class of 2006 with the signing of Olympia, Wash. native Maggie Goldenberger to a National Letter of Intent.

A 6-1 forward-center out of Capital High School in Olympia, Goldenberger is the Cougars' all-time leading rebounder with 931, including a school record 26 in one game and 269 in a single season. She also holds the school's career mark with 99 blocked shots in her four-year varsity career. In 2005-06 she averaged over 11 points 10 rebounds and 3.1 assists a game and was named to the Bay Division All-Narrows League First Team as well as to the All-Area team by The Olympian. Goldenberger also carries a grade-point average of 3.893 and plans to study engineering at Santa Clara.

"We are extremely happy and fortunate to have Maggie become a part of the Santa Clara women's basketball program," said Bento-Jackson. "She brings to Santa Clara the qualities that we look for in a student-athlete. Maggie is someone who thinks team first and has the mentality to be able to come in and help our team in any way she can."

Goldenberger joins guards Brittany Purvis (Tucson, Ariz.) and Gretchen Tiernan (Roseville, Calif.) as the newest additions to the Bronco women's basketball family.
