Broncos Continue Fall Play in Hawaii

OAHU, Hawaii - The Santa Clara University women's golf team continued its fall season today with participation in the Kent Youel Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawaii at the Kapolei Golf Course in Oahu. Junior Samantha Trask is leading the Broncos with her position of 22nd heading into Wednesday's final round.

Santa Clara carded rounds of 312 and 313 for a 625 to place 12th. Head coach Polly Schulze said after the rounds that her team is improving by a couple of shots each time they take a course and she is looking to move up a few spots after tomorrow's performance. Third-ranked UCLA leads the 15-team field with a 568, and has a 16-stroke lead over No. 9 Arizona State. Oregon, Oklahoma and UC Irvine round out the top five.

Trask carded a five-over-par 73-77--150 to lead the Broncos. Courtney Dimpel-Composti is next, just one stroke back. Candice Palmer posted a 163, with teammates Jenny Nelson and Corey Utsurogi adding a 164 and 166, respectively

UCLA's Charlotte Mayorkas is leading the individual competition with a five-under 139.

The Broncos will conclude action at the Invitational with the third and final round Wednesday morning. Santa Clara will follow with one more tournament during fall play, with participation at the Cal Poly Invitational in San Luis Obispo, Calif., Nov. 8-9.
