SEDONA, Ariz. - Sitting in ninth place following yesterday's first round at the Red Rock Invitational, the Santa Clara women's golf team was determined to bounce back Sunday and place in the top five. Thanks to a team score of 314 in today's final round, the Broncos did just that as they surged ahead by five spots and took home fourth place.

Corey Utsurogi again paced the Bronco quintet on Sunday, carding a 76 to give her a two-round score of 155 (+11) and a ninth-place finish in the individual competition. Samantha Trask followed up with a 78 on day two while Candice Palmer and Megan Stoddart each shot an 80 for the day. Jenny Nelson carded an 83 while Jennifer Sun, competing as an individual, shot an 81 to close out the tournament.

"We played very well today and surpassed our goal of getting a top-five finish, which we are very proud of," said head coach Polly Schulze. "We feel great about today and Corey played very well and got a great top-ten finish for us."

Northern Arizona and UTEP finished tied for first in the team competition with a combined score of 623, while Portland State held onto third place with a score of 629.

Gonzaga's Mary Kate Morgan shot a Sunday-low round of 72 to capture the individual title by two strokes over Sophia Choi of Northern Arizona. Morgan's two-round total of 148 was four-over par for the tournament.

The Santa Clara women, fresh off of their third-consecutive top-five finish, will return to the links for competition in just over a week as they will participate in the Spartan Invitational in Carmel from March 6-8.
