KAPOLEI, Hawaii - The Santa Clara women's golf team rolled up their sleeves and went to work at the Kent Youel Invitational at the Kapolei Golf Course this morning in the midst of a Hawaiian storm. Despite 30-40 mph winds and two separate rain showers, the Broncos managed to shoot rounds of 319 and 312 Tuesday.

After a first round in which the Santa Clara golfers played through the elements, they adjusted in time for the day's second round, as Megan Stoddart paced the Broncos with an even-par score of 72 in the afternoon round. Candice Palmer added a 77 to the team effort while Eriko Sato shot 82, Corey Utsurogi carded a 84 and Samantha Trask shot rounds of 79 and 81 on the day.

"I'm extremely proud of the team for how they continued to grind it out all day, they stayed strong and got scores in the 70s which was great considering the conditions," said head coach Polly Schulze. "On a day like this they stayed strong on all 36 holes and we're looking forward to going out tomorrow and improving our position."

The Broncos will continue play tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. as they tee off in the third and final round of the tournament.
