This Week
Santa Clara and its nine-match win streak heads south this weekend to face Loyola Marymount in a Friday afternoon match in continuing WCC action. The Broncos conclude weekend play at No. 21 Pepperdine on Sunday. The Lions are currently 5-7 overall, 1-1 in the league, while the Waves carry an 8-1-3 mark on the season, 0-1 in the conference. Pepperdine is one of four WCC teams ranked nationally.

Taking Away Perfection
Santa Clara's 1-0 win over No. 7 Saint Mary's last weekend marked the fourth time this season the Broncos have ended a team's undefeated campaign. Including the season-opening win against Cal Poly, SCU also ended Stanford's 7-0 season earlier this month with a 2-1 overtime win, and UCLA's 11-0 season last week with a 3-0 victory.

Wagner Moves Up in WCC, SCU Top-10 Lists
Aly Wagner moved into 18th place on the West Coast Conference's career points list, with 86 in 53 matches. This season, she currently leads the league in both goals (13) and assists (14) for 40 points, which is tied for 14th best in the conference for a season. Additionally, her 13 goals ties for 10th in the league's list for goals in a season. Wagner is also ninth in Santa Clara's recordbook in points, and has vaulted to No. 6 all-time in assists with 34. She registered 12 as a redshirt freshman in 1999 and added eight last season.

In the Rankings
Santa Clara is currently ranked second by all four polls: Soccer America, Soccer Buzz Magazine, Soccer Times and NCSAA/adidas. Four of Santa Clara's final seven opponents are ranked including one that the Broncos face this week in No. 20 Pepperdine.

Up Next: The Close of WCC Play
The Broncos will wrap up league play at home, hosting 10th-ranked Portland and San Diego. With three weeks left in the regular season, several teams still have a shot at the league title, including defending champions and preseason favorite Portland. Santa Clara and the Pilots are the only two teams that have ever won the WCC crown in the 10 years the league has sponsored the sport. SCU's titles came in 1993, '98 and '99.

Wagner Earns Third WCC Player of the Week Honor
Aly Wagner was named the West Coast Conference's Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the third time this season, after scoring three goals and one assist this weekend in handing both No. 3 UCLA and No. 7 Saint Mary's the first losses of their seasons. Against the Bruins, Wagner had a hand in all three goals, assisting on Danielle Slaton's game-winner in the seventh minute. She added her own goals in the 55th and 70th minutes. On Sunday, she took a free kick 20 yards out in the 89th minute, kicking against the wind, but with enough finesse to bend it in for the game-winner.
