Five Broncos Selected in 2010 Women's Professional Soccer Draft

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Five former Santa Clara women's soccer players, including four seniors from the 2009 squad, were selected in today's 2010 Women's Professional Soccer draft. With the five selections, the Broncos are now represented by 12 former student-athletes in the year-old professional league.

From this past year's senior class, Colorado-native Jordan Angeli was the highest selection of the bunch, going fifth in the second round to Boston Breakers. Both Kiki Bosio (second pick - L.A. Sol) and Amanda Poach (eighth pick - St. Louis Athletica) went in the third round. Bosio will join former Santa Clara midfielder Aly Wagner ('03) in Los Angeles. Defender Katherine Reynolds will join Angeli and Leslie Osborne ('05) in Boston as the fifth pick of the fourth round. Osborne left the Bay Area FC Gold Pride and signed with the Breakers after the completion of the 2009 season.

Forward Meagan Snell ('08), who had spent time playing in the WPSL with the Sacramento Storm and in the local Silicon Valley Soccer League in the Bay Area after graduation, was selected as the sixth pick in the fifth round by Sky blue FC (New Jersey). Snell finished her Santa Clara career with 20 goals and 11 assists in 87 games.

Also currently in the league, Marian Dalmy ('07), Chioma Igwe ('08), and Brittany Klein ('08) remain on the Chicago Red Stars roster for the upcoming season. The FC Gold Pride will again feature Brandi Chastain ('91). Meagan McCray ('09), who spent time with the Gold Pride last season, is currently a free agent.
