Meet the Future of Bronco Women's Soccer: Kellie Peay

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Getting set to welcome the next wave of Broncos to the Mission campus, Santa Clara women's soccer welcomes Kellie Peay in the signing class of 2014. Peay is from Phoenix, Ariz. and attended Xavier College Preparatory. Peay was named a four-star recruit by Top Drawer Soccer and was ranked No. 10 in the Rocky Mountain/Southwest Region as well as being named an ECNL PDP/id2 player.

"All aspects of Santa Clara University appealed to me when I first visited," said Peay. "The excellent academics and sports atmosphere opened my eyes to what I truly desired in a college environment. The coaches welcomed me, along with the girls on the team. I felt comfortable joining the Bronco family and couldn't be more thrilled to play for such an exceptional school."

"I'm really excited about Kelly becoming a Bronco," said Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith. "She is really athletic and plays in the back line. She will have a chance to impact our starting lineup as a freshman as a center back or an outside back. Like all other Santa Clara backline players, she has a great ability going forward and will be a welcome addition to our team."

As a senior at Xavier Peay was named team captain and the team advanced to the state tournament. As of the state tournament, Peay had scored nine goals and added two assists.

Her junior year Xavier won the state championship and Peay scored the lone goal in the 1-0 victory. She scored two goals and had four assists during her junior season. Peay registered one assist as a sophomore and Xavier was a state semifinalist. She was named All-Arizona and First Team All-State.

As a freshman Peay scored eight goals and had two assists while her team made it to the state finals. She was named First Team All-State.

Peay's club team is the Sereno 96 ECNL where she has been a captain since 2010. The team is a five-time Arizona State champion, a 2012 Region IV finalist, two-time Region IV semifinalist (2008 and 2009), two-time Far West Region League champion (2010 and 2011), and the 2012 ECNL conference champion.
