FORT WORTH, Texas - Freshman middle blocker Annalisa Muratore posted a career-high 19 kills to lead the 19th-ranked Santa Clara University volleyball team to the TCU adidas Invitational Championship title. She earned Most Valuable Player honors in leading the Broncos past the host Horned Frogs 3-0, in a tournament hosted at the University Recreation Center in Fort Worth. The Broncos improve to 7-2 on the season with the 30-23, 30-23, 30-24 victory. TCU falls to 7-4 overall.
Muratore committed only one error in 22 attempts for a .818 hitting percentage, also a career best. She added eight blocks to her all-around performance.
Sophomore Kim McGiven added 10 kills and five digs and joined freshman teammate Caroline Walters on the All-Tournament Team. Walters finished the night with 12 digs to lead the Broncos defensively.
Santa Clara out-blocked TCU by a 12-4 margin and hit .365 as a squad.
Santa Clara returns to the Bay Area next weekend and will close a seven-match road trip in nearby San Jose, taking on cross-town rival San Jose State on Friday, Sept. 24. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Spartan's Event Center.
