Final Stats

BOISE, Idaho - The No. 24 Santa Clara volleyball team won its second straight match at the Boise State Invitational with a 3-0 sweep of Texas-San Antonio on Saturday morning. Senior Crystal Matich and sophomore Lindsy Evans led the way for SCU, as Matich handed out 48 assists and Evans set a career high in kills for the second straight match with 20. SCU won in dominating fashion by scores of 30-18, 30-18 and 30-15. The Broncos hit .393 in the match with Matich again masterfully setting the tone as SCU improved its record to 2-0 on the year.

After a slow start to game one, the Broncos used a 12-4 run to turn an 11-10 lead into a nine-point advantage. From there, SCU cruised home to the 30-18 win with redshirt freshman Kim Courtney finishing things off with a kill.

With the Broncos big three, Matich, senior Caroline Walters and junior Brittany Lowe, playing at a high level, SCU would dominate the next two games to put the match away. Matich kept the offensive rhythm going, while Walters defensive play and passing at libero were again essential to the team's victory. Lowe ended up with 10 kills, good for second on the team behind Evans' 20. The Broncos won game two 30-18 with kills by Lowe, Nichole Clark and Evans closing out the game.

In the match-clinching game, SCU got out to a 10-5 lead and never looked back. Evans and Lowe continued to be a potent one-two punch, as the Broncos finished off Texas-San Antonio 30-15.

Santa Clara takes on Boise State in the final match of the tournament at 6 p.m. PT on Saturday night.
