SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's water polo team hosts Pacific in its final Golden Coast Conference game on Saturday and will recognize two graduating players.
The Broncos (12-15, 1-5) play The Tigers (14-7, 6-0) at noon at the Sullivan Aquatic Center.
"Pacific is ranked No. 8 and is undefeated in conference play," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "They are a very good team, known for having a hard physical press. Preparing for UOP, and playing them this weekend is a great way to get ready for conference championships the following week."
Ellise Floreani and Nicole Blaney will suit up for the final time at home.
"We have two seniors, Ellise and Nicole, graduating this year," said Wilbur. "They are both valued members of our team who have done a lot for our program, and we look forward to honoring them in our last home game."
Floreani is a fourth-year utility player who has played in a total of 61 career games, tallying eight goals, eight assists, and six earned ejections. Floreani took her junior year off due to a shoulder injury.
"It has been a really great four years being on the team, and I am going to really miss everyone," said Floreani. "Playing on a sports team is very special, and I am fortunate that I got the opportunity to do so at a D1 university. I have definitely learned a lot from my coaches and teammates."
Blaney is a second-year driver who has appeared in 16 career games, posting two goals, five assists, and two steals. Blaney did not play her freshman or sophomore years.
"I'm going to miss having a group of people that I can always count on and go to whenever I need them," said Blaney.
