Santa Clara University has announced it has partnered with KDOW AM 1220 to be the exclusive radio home of the Santa Clara University men's basketball program for the 2008-2009 season. KDOW will a carry a minimum of 32 games this year as the Broncos, members of the NCAA's West Coast Conference, battle traditional league foes Gonzaga, USF and Saint Mary's, as well as contests against local rivals Stanford and Pacific.
All games will be broadcast live on KDOW AM 1220 with the exception of the January 2 contest at Harvard, which will be tape-delayed due to Saturday morning programming on KDOW AM 1220.
In addition, Bronco men's basketball head coach Keating will appear on KDOW's Sports Ramble show with host Chetan Chaudhari, every Sunday evening, starting Nov. 9, from 8:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. to discuss the team's progress. Besides Keating, other head coaches including first-year head women's basketball coach Jennifer Mountain will be featured on a regular basis.
"We are excited to begin a relationship with KDOW AM 1220. Bringing our men's basketball games over the radio waves to Bronco fans both in their homes and on the road is important to me. With Coach Keating on the Sports Ramble every Sunday evening, he will be able to give Santa Clara basketball fans an inside look on a regular basis. We look forward to tipping off the regular season vs. CSU East Bay on Nov. 14 at the Leavey Center," said Santa Clara Athletic Director Dan Coonan.
"We are extremely pleased to be the radio home of Santa Clara basketball," KDOW AM 1220 General Sales Manager Wade Sherman said,. "They have a rich basketball tradition, going back to the days of Kurt Rambis, and later Steve Nash. They are a highly recognizable and competitive program, with a sizeable fan base and an active student body and alumni in the Bay Area. We know that they will be well received by our audience."
The contract will include daily morning updates on Bronco and WCC highlights from Bronco radio voice Anthony Passarelli, ticket giveaways and signage in the Leavey Center.
KDOW AM 1220 is the Bay Area's New Business Station, broadcasting financial news and information round the clock, powered by the financial engines of Bloomberg and CNBC, with daily talk shows with financial experts such as Ray Lucia, Moe Ansari, Steve Peasley and Phil Grande.
