Playing in the Dick Sporting Good NIT Season Tip-Off Consolation Round, the Santa Clara basketball team, 1-2, will play at the University of Georgia, 2-1, on Mon., Nov. 24 at 5 pm (Pacific) and then play University of Arizona, 1-1, in Athens, Ga., on Tues. Nov. 25 at 2:45 pm (Pacific).

Both Santa Clara games will be broadcast on KDOW 1220 AM and also on the Bronco website at www.SantaClaraBroncos.com.

Santa Clara fell in both games in Tucson, losing 64-61 to UAB on Mon., Nov. 17 and then Florida Atlantic on Tues., Nov. 18, 65-61. UAB advanced to the NIT Season Tip-Off semi-finals in Madison Square Garden with its 72-71 victory over host-Arizona. Arizona defeated Florida Atlantic 75-62 the night before.

Georgia, 2-1, fell 74-53 to Loyola-Chicago on Monday before defeating Eastern Michigan 61-60 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs, 17-17 in 2007-08, finished last season with a flourish, falling 73-61 to Xavier in the NCAA Tournament First Round. The Bulldogs won three games in about 30 hours at the SEC Tournament due to the tornado that struck the Georgia Dome and the city of Atlanta on Friday evening (March 14) 45 minutes prior to the Kentucky game. After defeating Ole Miss in the first round on March 13 (97-95 OT), Georgia defeated Kentucky (60-56, OT) in the second round and Mississippi State (64-60) in the semi-finals on Sat., March 15 before advancing to defeat Arkansas 66-57 on Sun., March 16 to win the SEC's automatic bid in the SEC Final.
