Men’s Soccer Signs Three in 2021 Recruiting Class

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer announced the signing of a three-member recruiting class.  Blake Gillingham, Aaron Sandhu and Dominic Vegaalban signed national letters of intent and will join the program as freshmen in the fall of 2021.

"We are very excited about signing Dominic, Blake and Aaron as we have great belief in what they will bring to the team," said Broncos head coach Cam Rast.  "Each fills an important need for us, attacking, goalkeeping and defending, respectively.   These were guys highly sought after from other top programs but found Santa Clara to be the best choice.  Especially during this challenging time in scouting, we were fortunate to have recruited these guys early and able to see the process through.   Their pedigree and impact will be felt the moment they step on the field."

Gillingham is a 6-foot-2 goalkeeper from nearby Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, California and played his club soccer for De Anza Force SC.  He was ranked as one of the top 150 players in the country by IMG Academy.

Sandhu is a 6-foot defender out of Lake Washington High School in Kirkland, Washington.  He competed for United Football Academy in the USSDA U15 before playing the last three seasons for Crossfire Premier SC.

Vegaalban, a forward from Rocklin, California attended Visions in Education.  The 5-foot-10 Vegaalban has been in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy with Sacramento Republic FC, Seattle Sounders FC, Sacramento Republic FC and De Anza Force SC.  He has also been part of the U14 and U16 U.S. Boys' National Teams.

"Important to each of these guys was having an environment and the support to help them grow as players," said Rast.  "Between the realization of the Schott Athletic Excellence Center plus the newly installed, next generation training field SCU has made a huge commitment to athletics and our future.  Coupled with the Steven's Soccer Training Center and Buck Shaw Field at Steven's Stadium you may not find a better place for soccer players in the country."

Beginning the week of November 30, the Broncos will highlight one signee per week.  The first of those signees is Blake Gillingham.
