SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The Santa Clara men's tennis team said goodbye to their departing seniors by earning their last win of the regular season, defeating Saint Mary's 6-1 today at Degheri Tennis Center. The Broncos end the regular season with a 16-6 record overall and a 2-1 record in West Coast Conference play.
Santa Clara won the second and third doubles matches to earn the doubles point for the day. In singles play, departing senior Brian Brogan started off the day on a good note for the Broncos with a win over Saint Mary's Lucas Tirelli, 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 1 position.
Sherif Hamdy earned Saint Mary's lone point of the day, defeating Jay Wong, 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 3 position.
"It was a beautiful day today to send off our seniors," said Bronco head coach Derek Mills. "Brian really stepped up today to clinch his win and it was great way to end the season before the WCC tournament."
