April 7, 2010

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - This weekend the Bronco men's tennis team will close out its eight game home stand as it hosts Pacific and West Coast Conference opponent Loyola Marymount on Friday and Saturday Apr. 9 and 10. SCU is currently 12-5 on the season and 1-1 in WCC play.

On Friday, the Pacific Tigers visit the Mission Campus with first serve set for 3:00 p.m. In their last match, the Tigers grabbed a strong 6-1 win on the road versus Air Force. With the win, Pacific heads into this weekend with a 5-9 season record.

"Pacific has been up and down all season, but has been a tough team for a lot of strong programs," said Bronco head coach Derek Mills. "We are expecting a rough match on Friday, but our guys have been playing well and we are looking forward to some good matches this weekend."

Saturday's 11:00 a.m. match up versus Loyola Marymount was a match originally scheduled for February, but due to inclement weather was rescheduled for this weekend. The Lions are 8-10 on the season and 2-2 in WCC competition. LMU visits SCU coming off of a 6-1 victory over UC Riverside.

Both matches will be played at the Degheri Tennis Center. Friday's match versus Pacific is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. and first serve for Saturday's match versus LMU is set for 11:00 a.m.
