SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Bronco pitcher Jaime Forman-Lau struck out the first 11 batters she faced in leading the Santa Clara University softball team to a 1-0 victory over UC Davis this afternoon at Marsalli Park. She finished with 13 Ks in the three-hitter for her 14th win of the season. The Broncos also won game two by a 3-0 score and improve to 16-20 overall. The Aggies fall to 19-15.

The Broncos scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the first. Centerfielder Angela Kabanuck led off and reached first after a pitch by Amy Rosson hit her. Third baseman Vanessa Werner then moved Kabanuck to second on a bunt down the third baseline. Second baseman Jenny Brown walked to load the bases. Shortstop Shannon Linerud then drove in Kabanuck with a single to right field. The Broncos were unable to further capitalize in the inning.

Brown doubled to open the third for the Broncos' final hit of the game. It also marked Brown's third double in the team's last three outings.

Forman-Lau's no-hitter was broken up in the fifth with Aggie Jenna Cresta's single to right field. UCD's Megan Turman added a two-out double in the sixth and teammate Nikki Sheldon posted a two-out single in the seventh to comprise Davis' three hits of the game. The loss was only the fifth of the year for Rossen.

In the matinee, Santa Clara loaded the bases in the bottom of the third with no outs. UC Davis was able to record two outs at home plate and close out the inning without allowing any runs.

Three Bronco hits in the fourth scored one run to give SCU a lead. Pitcher Liz Courter opened the frame with a single and advanced to second when catcher Kate Goethals' base hit followed. Courter was out on third, as right fielder Keri Reisinger reached first. Goethals moved to third on a fielder's choice and was brought home by Werner's two-out RBI single.

The contest was put out of reach in the fifth with two more Bronco runs. With one out, Aggie pitcher Rachel Kelly walked Linerud and designated player Rachel Sherman. Courter followed with a high hopper to load the bases. Goethals brought in Linerud with an out made at second. Goethals then stole second, allowing Sherman to steal home on the throw.

Santa Clara finished with nine hits, giving Courter the win in the circle. Kelly took the loss for UCD. The Aggies scattered six hits across the innings, including two in the seventh in an attempted comeback.

Today's contests closed an eight-game homestand for the Broncos. Santa Clara returns to Pacific Coast Softball Conference play with four games at Loyola Marymount: two on Thursday and two on Saturday. Both days' action will begin at noon. The Broncos then return to Marsalli Park for a single game against California at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13.
