LOS ANGELES - Santa Clara University senior pitcher Jaime Forman-Lau received the Pacific Coast Softball Conference's inaugural Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor, the league announced Friday.
Forman-Lau, a San Jose native from Archbishop Mitty High School, graduated earlier this month with a master's degree in Counseling, Psychology and Education. At the department's annual senior night, she received the James D. Farwell Award and was also recognized as the female student-athlete with the top GPA for the academic year, boasting a 3.855.
Athletically, Forman-Lau is a two-time NFCA All-Pacific Region team member and PCSC Pitcher of the Year. She led the team in 2004 with a 1.45 ERA and recorded 25 wins, which ranked 13th nationally. She posted 10 shut outs and 33 complete games, striking out at least 11 batters in seven contests. Forman-Lau permanently made her mark in SCU records, as she has 557 Ks in her two-year Bronco career, setting a new standard.
She closed out the year with three straight PCSC Pitcher of the Week honors. The first came after striking out 26 batters in 26 innings without allowing a single walk in the Saint Mary's series, while also being an offensive threat, batting .444, including a home run against the Gaels. She threw a perfect game the following week against San Diego and then closed her career with a sweep of Sacramento State for the league championship, winning three games to close the weekend with a 0.31 ERA.
