RENO, Nev. - In the final game of the weekend series, the Santa Clara softball team dropped a 10-2 decision to University of Nevada at Hixson Park in Reno, Nev. Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Amanda Edmonson hit her third home run of the season in the top of the fourth inning. The Las Vegas, Nev. native blasted the ball over the left field wall for the Broncos first run of the day.

Santa Clara tallied four hits in their final contest at UN. Freshman Kristin Welsh earned the first SCU hit of the day in the top of the first. She singled down the right field line for her sixth hit of the season.

The Broncos earned their second run on the day in the fifth inning. Jeanine Ruffoni led off the inning with a double up the middle. Pitch hitter Stephanie Smith followed Ruffoni with a single up the middle. The next batter, freshman Briana Knight, reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a Wolf Pack throwing error. Ruffoni scored SCU's final run of the day on the error and Knight earned her 13th RBI of the season.

"I don't think we played to our potential and ability," said head coach Lisa Mize. "We need to come home, refocus and prepare for this weekend at Stanford."

The Broncos, 4-14 overall, look to bounce back into the win column this weekend at the Stanford Invitational. Santa Clara will take on Pacific, Princeton, Stanford and Winthrop at the weekend tournament from March 20-22.
