SANTA CLARA, Calif.- Santa Clara softball junior Megan Smith and freshman Briana Knight were named to the 2009 All- Pacific Coast Softball Conference team today. Smith and Knight were both named to the Honorable Mention team for their efforts on the field.
"Briana and Megan were key additions to the Bronco softball team this year. It is great to see these two recognized and rewarded for their hard work on the field," said Bronco head softball coach Lisa Mize.
Knight, a native of Fairfield, Calif., recorded a .261 batting average and started in 52 games this season in the outfield. Knight led the team in hits, doubles and home runs for the season; and tallied the team's highest slugging percentage at .471%. Knight also earned the team's second highest amount of runs scored with 17 runs and 25 RBIs.
Smith, a junior transfer from West Valley College who comes from Salinas, Calif., worked as an infielder this season, starting 53 games during the year. Smith led the team with five doubles and 18 runs for the season. Smith also had 23 hits and 10 RBIs.
