Edmonson Named PCSC Co-Player of the Week

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Sophomore infielder Amanda Edmonson was named PCSC Co-Player of the Week for the week of March 15, it was announced Tuesday. It is the Las Vegas, Nev. native's first career honor and she is the first Bronco to earn the accolade this season.

In Santa Clara's last five games she posted a .545 batting average and a 1.455 slugging percentage. Four of her six hits were multi-base hits, as she went 6-for-11 on the week. She recorded two multi-hit games this past week. In the Broncos first home stand versus Northern Illinois on March 11, she went 2-for-3 and hit her first home run of the season in the 3-2 victory. Her second multi-hit game of the week was at University of Nevada on March 14. The Santa Clara third baseman went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. She hit a third home run against Nevada on March 15 to close out the weekend series.

This season she is boasts 12 hits, six RBIs, three home runs and three doubles. She is hitting .279, for third best on the team, and posts a .558 slugging percentage in 19 games played.

Edmonson, who shared Player of the Week honors with Sacramento State's Izmena Cabrera, and the Broncos travel to local rival Stanford to participate in the Stanford Invitational. SCU will play Pacific, Princeton, No. 4 Stanford and Winthrop at the three-day tournament from March 20-22.
