Softball to Play in Battle of the Bay

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's softball team will participate in the Battle of the Bay this weekend in Hayward, Calif., to kick off their fall tournament schedule. On Saturday, Oct. 11 the Broncos will face Ohlone College at noon, followed by Chico State at 4 p.m. The following day, they will take on Cal State Stanislaus at noon, and close out the tournament versus San Francisco State at 4 p.m.

The Broncos are led by the only senior on the roster, Noelani Hoopii. The team captain earned academic honors, as well as All-PCSC Honorable Mention honors last season. Hoopii led the team with a .292 batting average, started and played in all 60 games and hit four homeruns.

SCU returns 12 players this season and welcomes six freshmen and one junior transfer, under first year head coach Lisa Mize.
