Women’s Water Polo Prepares for Back-to-Back Home Games

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After seven straight games away from home, Santa Clara women's water polo is back at the Sullivan Aquatic Center to play two straight games.

The Broncos (3-8) will face Cal St. Monterey Bay (4-3) and UC Davis (7-11) on Saturday. The Cal St. Monterey Bay game is set for 9 a.m., followed by UC Davis at 3 p.m. Those two teams will face off at noon.

Last weekend, the team competed in the Cal Speedo Cup II, playing against two of the top teams in the nation. After losing to both top-ranked Stanford (8-0) and No.4 Cal (10-1), the Broncos look to get back on track at home

Annie Eldredge, Cathy Cantoni, Mara Dominguez, and Susan Providenza were all able to tally goals in Berkeley against a pair of teams featuring a number of Olympians.

Hannah Buck leads the team with 12 goals and 24 kickouts drawn. Cantoni has a team-best 10 assists and shares the lead in steals (11) with Blair Akerland.

The Broncos won against Cal St. Monterey Bay, 11-9 earlier in their season opener. Buck scored a game-high five goals and Francesca Puccinelli, who has started all 11 games in net, registered 14 saves.

Santa Clara looks to sweep the season series from the Otters and then face off for the first time against the 13th-ranked UC Davis Aggies.
