SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's cross country team strengthened an already impressive signing class of incoming freshmen with the announcement that the program signed Lauren Swigart from Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. to a national letter of intent, Head Coach Tom Service announced today.
Swigart joins Shannon Bell from Spokane, Wash., Julie Gabelein from Langley, Wash., Sarah Krtil from Sacramento, Calif. and Sarah Scott from Portland, Ore., who previously signed letters of intent to join the Bronco distance program when the team assembles for preseason drills in August.
"Lauren is a very talented runner and her progress this season in cross country and track has been incredible," said Service. "Lauren has demonstrated in the past few months that she is definitely ready to step up to a Division I collegiate program. Her mileage background in high school should allow for a speedy transition to college competition and I anticipate Lauren challenging for a top 5 position on the team from day one."
