AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN IN 2009: Led the team with 25 appearances, 23 in relief ... issued just 13 walks in 47-plus innings ... held a 1.42 ERA after his first four college outings, throwing scoreless innings against URI (Feb. 21), Cal (Feb. 25), San Jose State (Feb. 27) and Oregon (Mar. 8) ... made his first start in a midweek game at UC Davis (Mar. 11), lasting 3 1/3 innings and giving up five runs ... rebounded by earning a save in 2 2/3 scoreless innings against Dartmouth (Mar. 21) ... took a loss at Cal (Mar. 25) in his only other start ... worked 4 1/3 innings and struck out six against Hawaii (Apr. 7) ... earned his first collegiate win after 4 2/3 innings of long relief, allowing no runs and just four hits against then-No. 18 Cal Poly (Apr. 14) while also equaling a season-high with six Ks ... finished the year strong, throwing three no-hit, no-run frames against then-No. 18 Cal Poly (May 18).
