Men's Golf in Second Place after First Day of Bronco Invitational

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Santa Clara University's men's golf team fired rounds of 294 and 300 on day one of the Bronco Invitational at the Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose, Calif. The Broncos trail cross-town rival San Jose State by 12 strokes heading into Tuesday's third and final round.

Bill Horwitz holds the individual lead with a two-round total of 4-under par 140. He leads Matt Higley of Cal State San Marcos by one shot, with three players trailing by only three shots. Matt Klenz was the top finisher for Santa Clara, firing rounds of 72 to finish the day at even par.

Kevin Bric played impressively on day one for the Broncos, firing rounds of 74 and 73 to sit in a tie for 12th place at 3-over par. Jonathan Edwards and John Colyar each finished the first day in a tie for 25th at 8-over par. Senior Sandy Horacek sits in a tie for 30th after rounds of 74 and 79.

The Broncos also had three individuals playing in the tournament, led by Dallas Stonhaus who shot rounds of 85 and 71 to conclude day one in a tie for 38th place at 12-over par. Chris DeMartini and Skye Skikos each sit in 49th place after a two-round total of 16-over par, 160.

The third and final round of the Bronco Invitational will be played at the 6,868 yard par 72 course on Tuesday beginning at 7 a.m.
