Santa Clara Finishes Fourth at Bronco Invitational

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Santa Clara University's men's golf team finished the Bronco Invitational at the Silver Creek Valley Country Club with a three-round score of 893, good enough for a fourth place finish. The Broncos finished behind San Jose State, Cal State Bakersfield and Cal State Stanislaus on the 6,868 yard par-72 track located in south San Jose, Calif.

San Jose State ran away with the tournament, firing a three-round total of 8-over par, 872. Cal State Bakersfield finished at 889, while Cal State Stanislaus fired a 891. Cal State Monterey Bay rounded out the top five with a two-day total of 906.

Isaac Weintraub from San Jose State won the individual crown with a 3-under par score of 213. Brent Jensen from Saint Mary's and Dan Warburton from Cal State Bakersfield finished in a tie for second place with a score of 215. Matt Klenz was the top Bronco finisher, firing rounds of 72, 72 and 76 to finish in a tie for eighth place.

Sandy Horacek and John Colyar each finished in a tie for 21st place after shooting a 10-over par total of 226. Jonathan Edwards finished 26th while Kevin Bric finished 31st with scores of 228 and 230.

The Broncos also had three individuals competing in the tournament. Chris DeMartini and Skye Skikos finished 43rd with a scores of 235, while Dallas Stonhaus finished 48th with a score of 237.

The Broncos will conclude its fall season next weekend as they travel to Hawai'i to participate in the University of Hawai'i Invitational at the Turtle Bay Golf Club on the island of Ohau.
