Lamb and Ichikawa Sign On For 2009-10 Season

Jan. 12, 2009

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's head coach Robert Miller announced the signing of two top junior prospects, Rick Lamb and Adam Ichikawa this week.

"The team is very excited about next season," said Miller. "The addition of these two top prospects and the return of starters Jimmy Cacho, Scott Travers and Ronnald Monaco along with the other veteran returning players next year, promise for an exciting 2009 season for the men's golf program."

Lamb, originally from Indiana, currently attends the Leadbetter Golf Academy in Florida. He has established an impressive record in junior golf with numerous victories and top ten finishes. He also qualified for the US junior amateur in 2009 and advanced to match play before being eliminated. His junior achievements rank him among the top 60 junior golfers in the country according to Golfweek Magazine.

Ichikawa is one of the top junior players in California, and is currently ranked second according to the Junior Golf Association of Northern California. In past years, he has won the Northern California junior amateur title, but more recently Ichikawa has elected to step up his level of competition and has proven himself at the amateur level. Last summer's achievements included a win in the San Mateo Amateur that highlighted a round of 12 under par, 58, which shattered the course record at Popular Creek. He followed this victory with another win in his home town at the Mountain View City Amateur. Ichikawa will join older brother Tyler on the team.
