Women's Basketball

Tamara Inoue was named an assistant coach of the Santa Clara women's basketball program in 2008. Inoue joins the Broncos after six years playing and coaching in Australia. Her prime responsibilities involve recruiting, film exchange, scouting and working with the Bronco guards. Inoue's playing days in Australia were cut short due to injury but after rehabbing in the United States, she returned to coach in the Victorian Basketball League. Inoue earned VBL Coach of the Year honors in 2006-07 with the Nunawading Spectres. She also coached the Knox Raiders to a National championship the following season with a 27-1 record. The Raiders faced their lone loss in the national title game. Inoue has also help run the Melbourne Roos club. With the Roos, she has developed several NCAA Division I athletes such as USC's Heather Oliver, Gonzaga's Kelly Bowen and Pacific's Claire McCleod as well a many others. Inoue played three seasons for the 49ers after transferring from University of California - Berkeley, becoming a two-time All-Big West honorable mention. As a senior, she led the Big West in assists, averaging 5.9 per game, and as a junior she finished second in the league in assists (4.6 per game), while averaging 9.6 points per game and shooting 45 percent from the field and 35 percent from beyond the arc as the 49ers advanced to the WNIT. Inoue was a USA Today honorable mention All-American as a senior at Laguna Hills High in 1997. She averaged 14.0 points per game that season. A two-time league MVP, she set the school-record for points (30), assists (12) and steals (12). She attended high school and Long Beach State and played basketball with 2008 Olympic Silver Medalist and volleyball All-American Tayyiba Haneff. Inoue received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Long Beach State in 2002.
