SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara beach volleyball continues a West Coast Conference-heavy stretch of play Wednesday afternoon. The Broncos face No. 18 Saint Mary's for a road dual at Moraga Commons; first serve is set for 4 p.m.

SCU faces its seventh straight conference opponent and meets up with Saint Mary's for the second time this season. The Broncos went 2-3 and at last weekend's WCC Midseason Invitational and reached the bronze medal dual match.

THE BRONCOS

Santa Clara scored victories over San Francisco and Pacific in the conference event, held at Santa Cruz Main Beach. The team dropped contests against Saint Mary's and No. 13 Loyola Marymount and the Dons.

SCU is led by six different players with three match wins individually on the year: Alex Anthony, Michelle Gajdka, Brittany Gillingham, Liliana Light, Chloe Loreen and Gretchen Reinert. Gajdka/Tessie Powers are 2-2 at the No. 1 position. Anthony/Loreen and Gillingham/Reinert each have three match victories as a pair.

THE GAELS

Saint Mary's captured the silver medal over the weekend. The Gaels defeated Santa Clara once and San Francisco twice before falling to the Lions in the gold medal dual match. They are 12-0 in duals against unranked opposition on the season and have lost only three matches in those contests.

The team's No. 1 pair of Sarah Chase/Lindsey Knudsen also boasts its best record at 14-5 on the year, including five straight match wins. Individually, all 10 Gaels to play on the year are at least three matches above .500.

ON THE HORIZON

Santa Clara returns home after Wednesday's dual to face the Gaels on Saturday at 1 p.m. and San José State on Tuesday, April 9 at 4 p.m. for the only duals on the SCU campus this season.
