Women's Golf Wins Dual Match

CARMEL, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's golf team resumed its 2002-03 season with a convincing 19-stroke dual match victory over Cal Poly in Carmel, Calif., Monday afternoon to begin the Spring portion of their schedule.

Courtney Dimpel-Composti led the Broncos with her 6-over par, 78, which was also the low round of the day by six strokes. Jessica Lamberty and Meggie Fagundes each fired an 85 while Nikki Mack and Candice Palmer registered rounds of 87 and 88, respectively.

As a team the Bronco finished the day with a team total of 335, 19 strokes better than Cal Poly who finished their round with a team total of 354.

Stacy Davison lead the Mustangs with her 12-over par, 84, followed by Rebecca Norris who carded an 87. Paulie Lampert fired an 89 while Heather McGinnis and Gina Drago finished the day with rounds of 94 and 98.

This was the third annual dual match between the schools, but the first time that the Broncos recorded the victory. Head Coach Polly Schulze will lead her squad back into action on February 18-19 at the Bay Area Classic hosted by Cal.
