Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at Cal Poly Invite

AVILA BEACH, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's golf squad finished day two of the Cal Poly Invitational in the same spot it began, fifth, after a final round 343 at the Avila Beach Resort Golf Club in Avila Beach, Calif.

Playing again without Deanna Slaman who was sidelined during round one with a wrist injury, the Broncos battled through the challenging 5,947-yard, par-72 layout. Coutney Dimpel-Composti followed her opening-round 79 with an 80 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for fourth overall.

Candice Palmer finished 23rd after a final round 88, while Meggie Fagundes finished tied for 25th with a two-round total of 176. Nikki Mack rebounded from a tough opening-round to fire a second round 83 to finish is a tie for 27th with her 177 score.

The Broncos will now take a break and for the remainder of the fall and winter and resume their schedule in the spring. Their first tournament back will be the Bay Area Classic hosted by California on February 18-19.
