Broncos Head South For Games Against Three SoCal Opponents

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's water polo team continues its season on the road this weekend, taking on three southern California Western Water Polo Association opponents over two days.

The Broncos will begin the weekend at UC San Diego (3-12 overall) with a 6 p.m. evening contest on Friday, March 5. On Saturday, the Broncos travel to Chapman University in Orange, Calif. to play Cal State San Bernardino (10-4 overall) at 12:30 p.m. and host Chapman (2-2 overall) at 4 p.m.

The Tritons have defeated Marist, Pomona-Pitzer, and Long Beach State this season and are led by Kirsten Bates' 22 goals. Bates also has 20 steals. Markayla Quane is the starting goalie, posting 141 saves on the year. Chapman's Arielle Worthington has seven goals over four games and goalie Celia Huling has 25 blocks and 11 steals.

Santa Clara is led by senior Jenny Knutson with 25 goals and junior Taylor Harkins' 22. Junior Goalie Wren White has saved 53% of the shots she has faced.

Following this weekend's action, the Broncos will return to Sullivan Aquatic Center to play Indiana on March 13.
