Santa Clara Women's Water Polo To Play No. 16 Indiana On Saturday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's water polo team will have a light weekend of action, playing just one game against No. 16 Indiana at home on Saturday.

The 9-5 Hoosiers are will be just starting their five-game spring-break trip to California against the Broncos while Santa Clara (9-8) is preparing to head into winter quarter finals.

Santa Clara has two players with 20-plus goals; senior Jenny Knutson (28) and junior Taylor Harkins (27). Senior Meg Zimmerman is on the verge with 19 goals and senior Rochelle Stowe has 16. Starting junior goalie Wren White has saved 52 percent of 239 shots faced.

The Broncos are coming off two wins in southern California last weekend, defeating Cal State San Bernardino, 12-7, and Chapman, 16-2. Indiana has not fared well against California teams this season, going 1-4 against Golden State squads with its only win coming against Sonoma State, 15-6.

The Hoosiers' Jakie Köhli has scored a team-high 44 goals through the Hoosiers' first 14 games this season and has 13 multiple-goal games. She also leads the team in steals with 29. Nicole Redder is second in scoring with 28 goals. Goalie Cassie Wyckoff has started and played in 10 games and is averaging 11.45 saves per game and has a save percentage of 64% on shots faced.

Indiana leads the all time series, 4-1, against Santa Clara. The last time the two teams met was last season on March 1 when the Hoosiers edged the Broncos, 7-5.
