Bronco Cross Country Releases 2014 Schedule; Highlight Of The Year Is Hosting WCC Championships

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The Bronco men's and women's cross-country teams released their upcoming Fall 2014 schedule on Thursday. The highlight of the season will be when Santa Clara hosts the West Coast Conference Championship in Sunnyvale, Calif. on Nov. 11. They will also host the ninth-annual Bronco Invitational on Oct. 18. The Broncos have a tough schedule ahead of them, as they will be mostly competing on the road this upcoming Fall season.

"We are really excited to be hosting the WCC Championships this fall," said Bronco head coach Felipe Montoro. "The post-season is always the focus of our schedule and it is an added bonus that our runners will have the advantage of competing on our home course at the WCC Championships and just up the road at Stanford for the West Region Regional Championship."

The Broncos will start off the season by attending the University of San Francisco Invitational held in San Francisco, Calif. on Aug. 30. The Broncos will then host their first home invitational with the West Coast Conference Preview Meet on Sept. 13, which will take place in Sunnyvale, Calif. at Baylands Park.

As for the majority of September and October, the Broncos will be on the road competing against other top programs from across the country including the local rival Stanford. The Broncos will also be competing in the Roy Griak Invitational (St. Paul, Minn.) on Sept. 27, the Stanford Invitational (Stanford, Calif.) on Sept. 27, the Willamette Invitational (Salem, Ore.) on Oct. 4, and the San Francisco State Invitational (San Francisco, Calif.) on Oct. 10.

After competing on the road for over a month, the Broncos will host their own Bronco Invitational on Oct. 18 at Baylands Park. The Broncos will then focus their attention towards hosting the West Coast Conference Championship that will take place on Nov. 1.  Last year, the Bronco men's and women's both finished sixth at the WCC Championship and are now looking to bring one home this season since All-American Stephanie Wilson who won the title in 2009.

The Broncos will then close out the season with a competition at the Doc Adams Invitational (Davis, Calif.) on Nov. 8. Stanford will host the NCAA Western Regional Championship on Nov. 14.  At last year's competition, the Bronco men finished 21st and women were 24th. This year, the NCAA Division I National Championship will be held on Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind. where the Broncos will aim to make their first appearance in program history.

Go Broncos!
