SANTA CLARA, Calif. — On the heels of its intrasquad World Series, Santa Clara baseball will play an exhibition game against the Cal Golden Bears this Saturday, Nov. 15 with a 1 p.m. first pitch from Schott Stadium. Admission is free for the public. Saturday's game will mark the second straight season the Broncos have played a fall exhibition, after taking on the Stanford Cardinal a year ago.

Bronco fans have the first chance to take a look at this year's group of freshman, ranked 64th in the country by Perfect Game USA. The class includes right-handed pitcher Michael Bono, a 35th round selection of the St. Louis Cardinals in June's MLB Draft.

Last year, the Broncos finished 26-30 overall and 16-11 in the West Coast Conference to finish in fourth place in the conference standings. Santa Clara won its final five WCC series to earn a spot in the four-team conference championship — its first postseason berth since 1997. Dan O'Brien is set to enter his fourth season as head coach of the Broncos in 2015.

Last year, the Golden Bears finished 26-27 overall and 13-17 in Pac-12 play under head coach David Esquer. Cal started the year at 8-2 and went 7-2 in its last nine games. The Golden Bears won the last regular season meeting with the Broncos 3-1 on March 12, 2013.
