Brisentine on His Time with the Baseball Team

Santa Clara Broncos (SCB) chatted with senior pitcher, Evan Brisentine (EB), about his experience as a Bronco, some of his favorite memories, and plans for post college life.

SCB: What are some of the individual and team goals you had going into the season?

EB: I really just wanted to help my team win as many games as possible. I've tried to step into every role that has been thrown at me (starter or reliever) and give my team a chance to succeed. We are in a position right now that we have our work cut out for us. If we make a run in these last two series in conference, we have a chance to reach our goal of making the conference tourney.

SCB: You just have two more series of conference play left this season. What has been the highlight of your senior season?

EB: The highlight of my senior year has definitely been the last game of the San Diego series when we ended up coming back and winning on that Sunday. After that win, we went on a pretty nice streak, and we are seeing glimpses of going on another run in the last two weeks of the season.

SCB: How has the dynamic and team culture changed from your freshman year to your senior year?

EB: It has changed drastically. My freshman year was the first year of coach Dan O'Brien as our head coach and he was trying to revamp what it means to play Bronco baseball. This year, I really think guys are starting to understand what it means to be a Bronco and how we go about our business. I think this team has faced some adversity and we are finally learning how to fight through it.

SCB: What will you miss most about being a part of the baseball team?

EB: I am definitely going to miss being around a group of guys that all love baseball. We have spent a huge chunk of time together every day since the fall and we can never get enough. I have been so blessed to be able to go hang out and play at one of the greatest ballparks in the nation and be around a good energetic group of guys.

SCB: We're sure you've heard this question enough. But what are your plans for after graduation?

EB: I plan on taking a road trip across the country this summer then coming back to the Bay Area and go to graduate school. I plan on getting my teaching credential and being a high school history teacher!
